Dinner Time is a 1928 animated short subject produced and directed by Paul Terry and co-directed by John Foster. The film is part of a series entitled Aesop's Film Fables and features the Terry creation, Farmer Al Falfa who works as a butcher, fending off a group of pesky dogs. The film was the first publicly known sound cartoon. It was originally released by Pathé on October 14, 1928, a month before Walt Disney's Steamboat Willie. The short, however was not successful with audiences and Disney's film would go on to be recognized as the first synchronized sound cartoon.
