DeAngelo Eugene Hall (born November 19, 1983 in Chesapeake, Virginia) is an American football cornerback currently starting for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. He was acquired in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech with the eighth overall selection. Hall stands at 5' 10", and weighs 197 pounds, but is known for his quickness (perhaps the only player on the Falcons as fast or faster than Michael Vick) and his willingness and ability to play well in big assignments.
College career
Hall attended Virginia Tech, where as a cornerback he had 190 tackles (three of them for a loss), two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, eight interceptions, and 20 passes defensed. As a wide receiver, he caught seven passes for 86 yards (12.3 yards per reception). He also returned 56 punts for 839 yards (15.0 yards per punt return avg.) and five touchdowns.
National Football League Career
Now known as the new "prime time" in his first season he had three interceptions despite missing six games due to injury. He aims to continue to thrive, seeing that he is only 22 years old and last year became the youngest player ever to record an interception in the NFL.
Perhaps adding to his status as one of the NFL's most talented young players, one of Hall's finest moments came when he was assigned to one of the NFL's premiere wide receivers, Terrell Owens of the Philadelphia Eagles, on Monday Night Football. Although Owens gained 112 receiving yards, Hall made Owens a virtual non-factor on many of the Eagles' failed crucial third down conversions, and his tight coverage of Owens on the last Eagle possession of the game helped Atlanta clinch a 14-10 victory on September 12, 2005.
Hall has done a great job throughout the 2005-2006 season, especially on primetime. In the four primetime games he has played, he has had three interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
In 2005, Hall was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. While at the 2005 Pro Bowl, Hall was the winner of the "NFL's Fastest Man Competition", a contest with the fastest players in the NFL.
On a personal note, Hall is close friends with many elite receivers in the NFL, including the Panthers' Steve Smith and the Bengals' Chad Johnson. On an appearance on the NFL Network, Johnson and Hall made a wager on their upcoming 2006 matchup.
