David Wallace (September 12, 1799September 4, 1859) was a Whig governor of the U.S. state of Indiana from December 6, 1837 to December 9, 1840. He was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania and later moved to Brookville, Indiana. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1821. His son, Lew Wallace, was the author of the novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ and governor of the New Mexico Territory. He died in 1859 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His brother, William H. Wallace, appointed as the first Governor of the Territory of Idaho in 1863.
