Daniel Leroy Baldwin is an American actor, producer and director, born 5 October 1960 in Massapequa, New York. He is the second oldest of the "Baldwin brothers", with brothers William, Stephen and Alec.

Biography


Baldwin was born in Massapequa, Long Island, New York to an Irish American Catholic family with distant French roots. He is divorced from Cheryl Baldwin, with whom he had a daughter in 1985, and actress Elizabeth Baldwin (1990-1996) with whom he has two daughters. He is presently married to actress Isabella Hofmann, and they have one son, Atticus, born in 1996.

Besides his three famous actor brothers, Baldwin has two sisters, Jane Sasso and Elizabeth Keuchler. He is also the cousin of actor Joseph Baldwin. His mother, Carol Martineau Baldwin, is a breast cancer survivor and the founder of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center of the University Hospital and Medical Center at Stony Brook.

TV appearances


From 1993 to 1995, Daniel Baldwin was a regular on the cast of the television series Life on the Street. His wife, Isabella Hofmann, also acted in the series. Baldwin has also recently starred in the science fiction/mystery series Anonymous Rex, based on the novels of Eric Garcia.

In 2005, Baldwin was featured in VH1's Celebrity Fit Club, a reality show in which overweight celebrities compete to see who can shed the most pounds. He was the team captain of "The Eastsiders," which also features rapper Biz Markie, plus-size model Mia Tyler, and actor Joe Gannascoli. Baldwin was known for devising crafty schemes to sabotage the weight-loss efforts of the members of the opposing team, "Ralphie's Angels," later "the FB."

Substance abuse


Baldwin's substance abuse has been a frequent source of problems. He spent two weeks in Anacapa by the Sea in mid-early 1994, for a problem with cocaine. He was admitted to a hospital in critical condition after he was found in his hotel room suffering from a suspected drug overdose on 2 February 1998

On Celebrity Fit Club, Baldwin claimed to have "been sober now for a number of years," but he was spotted severely inebriated in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as recently as 2005. While on Fit Club Baldwin became addicted to painkillers and later arrived late to the 6th weigh-in under the influnce, a fact he later admitted to three months after the recording. He failed to attend the final weigh-in.*.

Baldwin was arrested on April 22, 2006, after police received a call that a woman had been threatened at the Ocean Park Motel in Santa Monica.* Entertainment media site TMZ reports that police uncovered cocaine and arrested two men, one of whom was Baldwin. Bail was set at $10,000.
