Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT) is one of the UK's largest media companies and has interests in national and regional newspapers, television and radio. While the majority of the company's activities are based in the UK, it does have worldwide operations. It is a member of the FTSE 250 Index, having been relegated from the elite FTSE 100 Index in June 2006. *
In November 2005 DMGT announced its intention to sell its Northcliffe regional newspaper division. On February 17 2006 the company announced it was abandoning the sale due to the failure of the bids to 'fully reflect the long term value of the business'.
