''This page is about the band Cryogenic. For the study of producing extremely low temperatures, see Cryogenics.

Cryogenic were an Australian metal band formed in 1992 in Wetherill Park, Sydney, Australia.

Their reputation as a fearsome and consistent live act brought them a solid following in the Sydney metal scene (particularly amongst the "Westy" * headbangers of the Western suburbs).

The band released their first demos and debut album, Suspended Animation on Warhead Records.

Between 1995 and 1998, the band have supported overseas acts, including Slayer, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Channel Zero and Cradle of Filth. The band also played shows in South Africa, England and Germany in 1998 to promote Suspended Animation.

They have also performed at the Big Day Out music festivals on three occasions, and have also headlined the Metal For The Brain festival.

Following the release of their second album, Egonoria, the band relocated to the United States with tenative plans made for shows in Los Angeles. However, vocalist Steve Simmons was injured in a car accident and was forced to leave the band.

The remainder of Cryogenic then based themselves in Los Angeles and re-launched itself under the name of In The Name Of. After just on two years of playing the LA club circuit, that band broke up in early 2005.

Drummer Darren Jenkins and bassist Anthony Hessa are now ensconed with playing bass in a project with ex-Machine Head drummer Chris Kontos.
