Core was the first album released by Stone Temple Pilots on September 29 1992, by Atlantic Records.

This album is regarded as Stone Temple Pilots's most famous and features such hits as "Plush", "Creep", "Sex Type Thing", "Wicked Garden", & "Dead & Bloated". This album, released during the Grunge movement of the 90's, was seen by many critics as a rip-off of other grunge bands, especially Pearl Jam and Nirvana. However, others have seen the album a true symbol of the movement, and it is generally thought of as a staple of the genre.

Notes

  • The song "Creep" is widely attributed, incorrectly, to the grunge band Nirvana on many P2P programs. Scott Weiland's vocals on the track are softer and raspier than on the album's other songs, and therefore more similar to Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain's vocals. This error is often accompanied by an erroneous title, with the words from the chorus, "Half the Man I Used to Be," taken as the title.
