The Commentariolus (litte commentary) is a manuscript of Nicolaus Copernicus in which he outlines his revolutionary theory of the solar system. While his major work De revolutionibus orbium coelestium was published in 1543 in six books, he had written the abstract Commentariolus on only six pages, and likely between 1507 and 1515, with some scholars even believing as late as 1533 due to the maturity of the theory. It is unknown who received the manuscript, and when. However, people urged him to publish, namely Nikolaus Cardinal von Schönberg, the Archbishop of Capua, in 1935. Georg Joachim Rheticus and Tiedemann Giese then were instrumental for publishing of De revolutionibus itself.
