Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

Abyss was brought into TNA on June 11, 2003 by Kid Kash to protect him while he battled against Trinity & Erik Watts. Soon after Kash’s problems with them ended, they started to become a tag team for a couple months. During October, tension sparked when Kash berated Abyss for a loss against America's Most Wanted and Abyss snapped on him. This lead to a match the next week, which Abyss won, but Kash attacked Abyss with a steel chair, leading to a First Blood Steel Chair On A Pole Match. Kash came out victorious in this match, and soon after the feud ended.

Abyss aligned himself with Don Callis when he went against Erik Watts. With fellow members of the Red Shirt Security under the control of Callis, Abyss teamed with them and had a feud with Raven & The Gathering. At the end of December, Abyss & Red Shirt Security battled Raven & The Gathering in a Steel Cage Match. Abyss & the Red Shirt Security defeated Raven & The Gathering when the Gathering turned on Raven.

Going into 2004, the next opponent for Abyss would be A.J. Styles. At one point Abyss was scheduled to team with Styles and face the Red Shirt Security for the NWA World Tag Team Championship. Abyss left during the match, but Styles came out victorious, making the new champions Abyss & Styles. The following week Abyss lost to Styles by disqualification. The next week they battled in a Four Corners Tables Match for the ownership of the Tag Team Titles. With help from Lex Luger, Abyss won and now had full ownership of the titles, but was later stripped of the titles by Vince Russo. Styles & Abyss then fought in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, which ended in a no contest. To end the feud and declare a #1 contender to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Abyss & Styles fought in a Ladder Match. When Raven distracted Styles, Abyss retrieved the contract and won the match. He later lost the Contendership to Raven in a Four Way Match with Ron Killings & Styles.

For a short time, Abyss became a partner of Monty Brown. Later Abyss started to be accompanied by Goldylocks to the ring so she has protection from her ex-boyfriend, Erik Watts. Abyss defeated Watts in a match where it was Goldylocks’ money vs. Watts contract. Goldylocks sold the contract and brought in Alex Shelley. Though Abyss helped Goldylocks & Shelley to claim more contracts, Abyss was treated as “extra luggage” to Goldylocks. When Watts returned to TNA, a match was set up with Watts, Sonny Siaki, & Desire vs. Abyss, Goldylocks, & Alex Shelley. Abyss turned on Goldylocks in this match, and finally left her.

In November Abyss started a feud with Monty Brown & Raven. This led to a match at Victory Road 2004 between Abyss, Raven, & Brown in a Monster’s Ball Match. The match was brutal, with Abyss finally revealing a bag of thumbtacks that he carried around for weeks. Abyss was powerbombed on them by Raven and was slammed through a table, leaving Raven to get pinned by Brown.

However, this was not the last time Abyss would face Brown. Abyss continued to attack Brown, leading up to a Serengeti Survival Match at Turning Point 2004. The only ways to win are by pinfall, submission, or slamming your opponent on thumbtacks. Abyss lost this match after being spinebustered onto thumbtacks by Brown.

It was around this time that Abyss became involved in an incident with rival pro wrestling promotion, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Many popular WWE wrestlers and WWE chairman Vince McMahon came down to Universal Studios, where TNA shoots their episodes, to shoot a promo for their upcoming Royal Rumble PPV. While the wrestlers were coming in, Abyss, along with a few other TNA wrestlers offered the WWE wrestlers milk and cookies. While distracted, Ron Killings stole a plate of fish on the catering table. All of this was caught on camera by TNA, however, WWE threatened to sue if the footage was shown. TNA instead did a parody of the event with Abyss in it, claiming it was "the footage WWE didn't want you to see". No charges were pressed.

In January, it was stated that Abyss had parted ways with TNA. Abyss would sign a new contract, and appeared at Final Resolution 2005 and attacked Jeff Hardy. This led to a match in February at Against All Odds and the match being a Full Metal Mayhem Match. The match contained ladders, tables, chairs, & chains. After Abyss whipped Hardy over the top rope and sent him crashing through tables stacked at ringside, Abyss won the match and won the right to be in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship match on a future Impact.

In March, Hardy still wanted revenge. Abyss & Hardy brawled for several weeks leading up to Destination X, where they would battle in the Final Assault Match. Abyss and Hardy fought from the ring to outside Universal Studios and back where Hardy would defeat Abyss with a Twist of Fate on a ladder. However, Abyss was the one who got the last laugh, giving Hardy the Black Hole Slam onto a pile of thumbtacks.

In April, Abyss wanted to have his match for the NWA World Heavyweight title. He threatened Dusty Rhodes's assistants, Traci & Trinity to give him the papers. A.J. Styles came and started a brawl with Abyss. After some more attacks on each other, it was announced that Abyss would face Styles at Lockdown in a Six Sides Of Steel Cage Contender’s Match with the winner being in the main event of Hard Justice for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The match was brutal, with Styles giving the Styles Clash to Abyss on the thumbtacks. The match ended when Styles powerbombed Abyss off the top of the cage onto the thumbtacks and pinned him to win.

Abyss would eventually get his shot at the NWA title. In May, Abyss competed in the Gauntlet For The Gold Match. He eliminated The Outlaw & BG James. The match came down to Abyss & Ron Killings. When Abyss brought a steel chair into the ring, Killings used it on Abyss for a near fall. Abyss would come back and hit the Black Hole Slam to get the win.

At Slammiversary, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship would be defended in a King of the Mountain match. The participants would be newly crowned World Champion A.J. Styles, Monty Brown, Abyss, Jeff Jarrett, and a wild card entry, later revealed to be Sean Waltman. Leading, Jarrett would try to gain Abyss as an ally to help him get his title back. Abyss responded with a Black Hole Slam to Jarrett, showing he wanted no allies. However on that night, Jarrett was ejected from the building, and Raven was to replace him. This was Raven’s night, beating Abyss up the ladder to hang the belt and win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship to fulfill his destiny.

On the following Impact, James Mitchell came out and told Raven his days are numbered. Abyss than came out and attacked the champ with a steel chain. Abyss did this for several weeks with his new manager, James Mitchell. At No Surrender, Abyss would fight for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Raven in a Steel Chain Dog Collar Match with No Surrender Rules. In the brutal match that involved the chain, steel chairs, tables, and thumbtacks, Raven won with a Raven Effect to Abyss onto the thumbtacks and pinned him to retain the title.

Abyss was furious with the loss, attacking Lance Hoyt and David Young on Impact. Hoyt challenged Abyss to a match at Sacrifice for revenge. The two giants met at Sacrifice. During the match, Hoyt delivered a springboard dropkick from one side of the ring to another to Abyss. Abyss won the match with a second Black Hole Slam. Later in the night, Abyss attacked Sabu in the main event, leading to his next feud.

Abyss & Sabu's violent war was just beginning, starting with a match at Unbreakable with it being a No Disqualifications Match. Abyss and Sabu fought in a brutal match, with many weapons being involved. Abyss was able to win the match though, catching Sabu off of a springboard move and delivering the Black Hole Slam to Sabu onto thumbtacks for the win.

Leading into Bound For Glory, Abyss continued to feud with Sabu and restarted his feud with Jeff Hardy after interfering in a match between Jeff Hardy & Rhino. At Bound For Glory, Abyss competed in a Monster’s Ball Match with Sabu, Hardy, & Rhino. During the match, Hardy hit a Swanton Bomb to Abyss from off the entrance stage. Rhino won the match with a Rhino Driver on Hardy. Later Abyss competed in a Gauntlet Match for the top contender to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Abyss made it to the final two, falling to Rhino, who won than went on to win the championship.

Abyss and Sabu's feud has still yet to be settled, facing in another No Disqualifications Match at Genesis. Abyss again came out victorious, this time giving a Black Hole Slam to Sabu on a steel chair wrapped in barbed wire. However, Sabu exposed a major fear of Abyss to intimidate the monster in previous weeks. When he brought out anything wrapped in barbed wire, whether it be a steel chair or even his own arm, Abyss was always freaking out.

The brutal feud would end at Turning Point 2005 in a Barbed Wire Massacre Match. The ropes would be replaced with barbed wire and all weapons wrapped in barbed wire. The match won the 2005 TNA Match of the Year due to the shear brutality of the match. Abyss also got over his fear of barbed wire before the event started. Both men bled heavily and attacked each other with steel chairs wrapped in barbed wire. Sabu would eventually gain his first victory over Abyss after sandwiching “The Monster” between two boards wrapped in barbed wire and sitting on Abyss’ face with them to win. Abyss & James Mitchell ended the year by joining Jeff Jarrett’s Planet Jarrett stable. They joined because they felt TNA management did not appreciate Abyss for all that he has done for the company. They also thought it was unfair that Rhino had two failed rematches for the NWA World Heavyweight title against Jarrett. As a favor to protect Team Canada's coach Scott D'Amore, Abyss attacked Rhino and gave him a Black Hole Slam. This lead up to an Abyss vs. Rhino match at Final Resolution 2006. At the PPV, Abyss came out victorious over Rhino with a Black Hole Slam on a steel chair.

On an episode of Impact, Rhino & Abyss had a rematch from Final Resolution. The match ended in a no contest when Abyss & Rhino fought backstage and Rhino GORE'D Abyss through a wall. This made their match at Against All Odds 2006 a Falls Count Anywhere Match. This match was extremely brutal. In the end, Rhino won when he GORE'D Abyss off the bleachers through a stack of tables below.

The feud would be toned down and would end at Destination X 2006 in an Eight Man Tag Team War Match. Abyss aligned himself with Jeff Jarrett & America's Most Wanted while Rhino teamed with Ron "The Truth" Killings and Team 3D. In the end Abyss' team came out victorious when Jarrett pinned Killings.

After his saga with Rhino was over, Abyss & James Mitchell set their sight on NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Christian Cage and his title. Mitchell, with the assistance of Alex Shelley, stalked and filmed Cage's wife while Cage was away. Cage caught them at his home at one point but was attacked Abyss and Abyss tried to drown Cage in his pool. Due to this a match was set up for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Lockdown 2006 in a Six Sides of Steel Cage Match. Cage won the match after he gave Abyss the Unprettier onto the thumbtacks. After the match, Abyss busted Cage open with his steel chain and than hung him from the steel cage. In the end, Abyss literally "walked out with the gold" when he took the belt and walked out with it.

On the April 27 edition of TNA iMPACT, Abyss defeated Rhino again thanks to the help of Bobby Roode. At the end of the match, Christian Cage came out and tried to regain his belt back but failed to do so, but not without setting a match for Sacrifice 2006, making it a rematch in a Full Metal Mayhem Match. The match was brutal, even James Mitchell getting slammed onto thumbtacks by Cage. Cage retained and reclaimed his title after he splashed Abyss through a table and retrieved the belt.

It was announced that at Slammiversary 2006, that the NWA World Heavyweight Championship would be defended in a King of the Mountain Match. Abyss fought old nemesis Rhino in a qualifying match, which Abyss would win with help from Bobby Roode. At a TNA house show called Hardcore War 2006, he defeated Brother Runt after a Black Hole Slam onto thumbtacks. At Slammiversary, the King of the Mountain match would consist of Abyss, Ron "The Truth" Killings, Jeff Jarrett, Sting, and NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Christian Cage. Near the end of the match, Abyss was thrown off a ladder and fell through four tables at the hands of Sting. The match ended in controversial fasion when Jarrett came out as the winner, however, the new face of TNA Jim Cornette did not award the title to Jarrett.

After his failed attempt to win gold, Abyss would appear in some tag team action, preparing to team up with The James Gang against Team 3D. The James Gang needed a third man to battle Team 3D, so after a match between Team 3D & America's Most Wanted, Abyss came to the ring, clotheslined Brother Ray & Brother Devon before throwing Brother Runt through a table at ringside. At a seprate Impact, The James Gang made sure that Abyss was on their team by signing "a deal with the devil (James Mitchell)" At Victory Road 2006, Abyss & The James Gang defeated Team 3D in a six man tag team match when Abyss pinned Brother Runt after a Black Hole Slam onto a table (the table did not break).

NWA Cyberspace

Despite being a heel in TNA, Abyss is a face in NWA Cyberspace. He is as violent in Cyberspace as in TNA. Abyss first major feud in Cyberspace was against Mana. In March of 2005, Abyss & Mana squared off in a brutal Dog Collar Match. In this match Abyss came out the victor. They had a final rematch in June, this time being a Last Man Standing Match. The barbaric match had thumbtacks, a staple gun, and Mana being chokeslammed off a camera platform through a set of tables. However in the end, Abyss was about to win when his ally, Jeff Jarrett, came out and smashed a guitar over Abyss’ head. This gave Mana enough time to get up and win the match.

Abyss and Jarrett then feuded over the NWA Cyberspace Heavyweight Championship. During a match, Jarrett again attacked Abyss with a guitar. Abyss then came out in Jarrett’s match and chokeslammed him. Abyss again attacked Jarrett later in a contract signing for a Steel Cage Match by choke slamming Jarrett’s attorney, Daggert. Abyss faced of with Jarrett for the NWA Cyberspace Heavyweight Championship at Cybercade 2. Abyss was about to win the match by leaving the cage when Rhino came out and hit the Gore on Abyss, helping Jarrett escape the cage to retain the title.

Abyss then feuded with Rhino for costing Abyss the title. Abyss defeated Rhino by disqualification in a match, but the victory was not enough for Abyss. Abyss and Rhino than clashed at Above The Law in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Tables Match. Though Abyss suffered the loss, Abyss received a shot at the Cyberspace title the same night due to a controversial ending to the Chris Harris & Jeff Jarrett match. By order of commissioner Jasmine St. Claire, Abyss faced off against Cyberspace Champion Chris Harris & Jeff Jarrett in a Three Way Match. Despite the odds being against him with Jarrett helping Harris, Abyss won with a Black Hole Slam on Harris and won the NWA Cyberspace Heavyweight Championship.

Abyss was scheduled to have his first title defense against Rhino in a No Disqualifications Match on January 21. Abyss won the match when Kip James came in and Rhino went for a GORE but he hit his bullet proof vest, leading Abyss to a victory over an unconscious Rhino. During the match, Rhino almost lit Abyss on fire. After the match, Rodney Mack challenged Abyss to a title match at Disturbing The Peace. Abyss has left NWA Cyberspace so the NWA CS world title has been vacated.

Border City Wrestling

Abyss has made several appearances for BCW. First he wrestled Monty Brown in late 2004 and lost. Later in the evening, Abyss delivered a Black Hole Slam to former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Tommy Dreamer. On January 21 2005, Abyss challenged BCW Heavyweight Champion A-1 to a match for the title. Abyss again lost. On July 17, Abyss faced NWA World Heavyweight Champion Raven in a Dog Collar Match. This happened before their match in TNA. Abyss again came short and lost to the champion. On September 15, Abyss finally gained a victory in BCW, defeating Bobby Roode to win the BCW Heavyweight Championship. With this victory Team America defeated Team Canada in the Can-Am Tournament.

Ring of Honor

In 2003, Abyss debuted as the bodyguard of Special K. However due to issues between ROH & TNA, Abyss was pulled out of ROH before he could do anything of significance.

Abyss returned in 2005, being brought in as a member of Prince Nana’s Embassy. He was brought in by Nana to help feud against Generation Next. On August 12, Generation Next’s Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, & Matt Sydal defeated The Embassy’s Jimmy Rave, Alex Shelley, & Abyss. On October 14, Abyss defeated Generation Next’s Jack Evans in a singles match. On October 15, The Embassy’s Rave, Shelley, & Abyss lost to Generation Next’s Aries, Strong, & Evans in a No Disqualification Six Man War Match. On November 14, Abyss & Rave fell to Sydal & A.J. Styles. On November 5, Prince Nana, Rave, Shelley, & Abyss defeated Styles, Evans, Aries, & Sydal. On December 3, the feud between The Embassy & Generation Next ended in a Steel Cage Warfare Match. Abyss was eliminated early on by Evans. Generation Next won the match and the feud ended.

Near the beginning of 2006, Abyss joined fellow Embassy member Jimmy Rave & Alex Shelley in the Trios Tournament. The team defeated the team of Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, & Jimmy Yang in the finals to win the tournament. This would give each member of the winning team any match they want against whoever they want. However, due to some disagreements with ROH management, Abyss left ROH. Storyline wise, due to Rave & Shelley having some issues, Nana fired Abyss from the Embassy.

1 Pro Wrestling

So far, Abyss has competed at every 1PW show to date, only once featuring outside of the main event. At A Cruel Twist of Fate, Abyss was scheduled to face Matt Hardy, who was later replaced by AJ Styles. Abyss lost by pinfall. He then entered the 1PW Title Tournament at No Turning Back, defeating Sabu to progress to the tournament itself, aided by his 'voice' Sterling James Keenan. Abyss and Keenan tagged the next night to defeat Sabu and Ulf Herman. Abyss then defeated Darren Burridge in the quarter-finals of the 1PW Title Tournament, advancing to defeat Christopher Daniels in the semis and finally, defeating AJ Styles to become the first-ever 1PW Champion at All or Nothing. Due to face Christian Cage the next night, he and Sterling James Keenan carried out a calculated attack on the NWA Heavyweight Champion. As a result, Captain Charisma was replaced in his match by Herman, making the match 'Survival of the Sickest'. The match was made famous by Herman taking a huge bump through a burning table covered in thumbtacks.

At 1PW's Know Your Enemy Night 1, Abyss defeated Ulf Herman in a 'Falls Count Anywhere In Doncaster' match to retain his title, during Night 1 Abyss shoved Steve Corino's son to the ground and this set up a triple threat 'Survival of the Sickest' match between Abyss, Christian Cage and Steve Corino at Know Your Enemy Night 2 for the 1PW Heavyweight Championship. During this match, Abyss threw Steve Corino from a balcony through 2 tables and then later powerbombed Corino from the apron through another table covered in barbed wire. Despite this, Corino was able to defeat Abyss following Christian delivering the Unprettier to become the new 1PW Heavyweight Champion.
