The Chicago Shamrox are a team in the National Lacrosse League scheduled to begin play in 2007. They will play their home games at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The team is owned by Kevin Loughery Jr., Don Sallee, the former NBA coach and player Kevin Loughery Sr., and Concept Entertainment Group, LLC. The new franchise was announced on February 16, 2006. Kevin Loughery Jr. is the son of Kevin Loughery Sr.

On May 11, 2006, Connie Kowal was announced as the team's first president and Phil Ryan was named Vice President of Lacrosse Operations.

On June 1, 2006, Jamie Batley was named the first Head Coach and General Manager in Chicago Shamrox history.

Naming


The "Chicago Shamrox" was chosen on May 11, 2006, out of over 1500 name ideas. It was narrowed down to 10 finalists and then to the "fab five". The following were the 10 finalists with the top five in bold:

  • Hitmen
  • Ill (iLL)
  • Shamrox (or Shamrocks)
  • Shooters
  • Thunder
  • Tower
