Charity fraud is the act of using deception to get money from people who are making donations to charities.

Some suggestions to help prevent charity fraud (and avoid being a supportive victim):

  • use a search engine (such as Google) and Wikipedia.org to "research" any potential charity.
  • avoid giving cheques, credit card information, etc. to any person/group you are suspicious of.
