Cefradine (INN) or cephradine (former BAN) is a first generation cephalosporin antibiotic.

Indications


It has similar spectrum of activity to cefalexin.

Dosage


Dosage by mouth for adults is 250-500mg every 6 hours, or 0.5-1g every 12 hours. In severe infections up to 1g every 6 hours may be used. Dosages for children are based upon their weight with 25-50mg/kg total daily dose given in 2-4 divided doses.

Formulations


Caspules containing 250mg or 500mg, Syrup containing 250mg/5ml, or vials for injection containing 500mg or 1g.
