Catherine Dent (b. April 14, 1965 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA) is an American actress who has starred in film and in television. Her first feature film was in the 1994 movie Nobody's Fool. Her television roles range from One Life to Live in 1997 as Janice Talbert, as well as a role in the 2002 mini series Taken.
However, Catherine's big breakthrough role came in 2002 as L.A.P.D. Officer Danielle "Danny" Sofer on the FX hit drama The Shield. She has made guest appearances on some TV shows, such as on The Pretender, Special Victims Unit, The Sopranos, Judging Amy, and Crime Scene Investigation.
Catherine is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Her father, Fred Dent, is a Louisiana politician who once ran for governor. Catherine gave birth to a baby boy on December 14, 2005. Her character on "The Shield" was also pregnant for the majority of season five before giving birth to a healthy baby boy.
