Simulation, or simulator games, are games that attempt to duplicate the experience of operating a real or fictional vehicle, like an aeroplane, car or spaceship. Games of the genre vary considerably in the level of detail and realism of simulation.

God games are also often called simulation games, but are a separate genre more closely related to strategy games.
