Shearwaters are medium-sized, long-winged seabirds in three genera (Calonectris, Puffinus, Procellaria) of the family Procellariidae. Those in the genus Procellaria are usually called "petrels", though they are thought to be more closely to the shearwaters than to the other petrels.
