A film distributor is a company which rents, leases or sells completed motion pictures to film theaters (cinemas) or other exhibitors, and normally provides them with the tools (e.g. advertising) to attract customers. A distributor may be a subsidiary of a larger, parent company; a government agency; or a stand-alone firm handling films produced by others.
