Brian Joseph Winters (born March 1, 1952 in Rockaway, New York) is a former player and head coach in the NBA. He played collegiately with the University of South Carolina and was the 12th pick in the 1974 NBA Draft, taken by the Los Angeles Lakers. He played one season with the Lakers and then was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, as part of the trade that brought Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Lakers. He had a productive, if unspectacular, 8-year career including two appearances in the NBA All-Star Game.
He was the inaugural coach for the Vancouver (now Memphis) Grizzlies, and also coached for part of a season with the Golden State Warriors.
