Brett Gurewitz (born May 12, 1962), also known as Mr. Brett and Brett Religion, is a guitarist and songwriter in Bad Religion. He is also the owner of the record label Epitaph Records.
Bad Religion was founded in 1980 with Greg Graffin, Jay Ziskrout and Jay Bentley and released their first album in 1981. He has produced albums for his own Bad Religion as well as Epitaph Records labelmates NOFX, Rancid and Pennywise, among others. He was replaced by Brian Baker in 1994 during the Stranger Than Fiction tour and started a new band, Daredevils, but rejoined Bad Religion in 2001 when they soon recorded their 2002 comeback album The Process of Belief.
During 2003, Gurewitz started a new band called Error together with Atticus Ross, Leopold Ross and Greg Puciato, but remained with Bad Religion for their 2004 album The Empire Strikes First and their next album that is slated for release in late 2006/early 2007.
Brett now lives in Hollywood, California, with his wife Gina and two kids, Max and Frida
