Blue Bell is a census-designated place (CDP) in Whitpain Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, it population was 6,395.
In July of 2005, Money ranked Blue Bell 14th on its list of the "100 Best Places to Live in the United States"*.
Blue Bell is known for its large executive-style homes, major business parks, small community shopping facilities, and small businesses. It also is home to the Montgomery County Community College and Wings Field Airport.
The nearest major shopping malls are the Montgomery Mall and the Plymouth Meeting Mall.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 14.0 km² (5.4 mi²), all land.
There were 2,434 households of which 32.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.2% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 23.8% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 94.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $94,160, and the median income for a family was $106,617. Males had a median income of $75,462 versus $50,481 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $43,813. About 1.8% of families and 2.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.1% of those under age 18 and 1.5% of those age 65 or over.
Blue Bell Country Club is one of the largest communities in the area and consists of over 1000 homes. It is home to one of the nicest golf courses in the area and includes a tennis court and swimming pool. Inverness and Aususta were the first villages in the community. Each "village" is named after a famous golf course.
