A blogcast is a melding of two well known media types, the blog and the podcast into a single website. Blogcasting's popularity is largely due to the fact that audio/visual content is often more popular than textual content, but search engines can only "scan" text, so to make a podcast searchable, it must have a written front-end.
Blogcasts can also be a combination of music and the events in the author's life, such as a busy piece for a busy day, or a loud piece for a loud day.
Some of the first websites to use the term "blogcast" were agapeplace.org and majornelson.com.
