October 15, 1979, is considered as Black Monday in Malta. The offices of The Times of Malta were set on fire during a spontaneous political rally by Labour Party supporters. ^*

Also on this day, supporters of the Malta Labour Party entered the private residence of Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, who was leader of the Nationalist Party, and ransacked his home. ^*
