Bernie Rhodes was the manager of legendary British band The Clash. He was also the manager of The Specials in their early days, although the band fell out with him, prompting them to change the opening line of their 1979 song Gangsters (their version of Prince Buster's Al Capone) from 'Al Capones Guns Don't Argue' to 'Bernie Rhodes Knows Don't Argue', as a stab at him and at, what they perceived as, seedy manager types in general.

In a television interview, Joe Strummer after drawing the camera to Bernie sleeping against a wall said,"He invented punk."
