Midway Park is located on a quiet residential neighborhood stretch on Midway Road, probably less than a mile from the old Columbia Mall (now called Avondale Mall) located at the corner of Midway Road and Memorial Drive. Midway Park basically consists of numerous ball fields used for playing baseball and football and it also has a public swimming pool, located adjacent to the ball fields. Boys and girls as far back as the 1960s have been swimming, playing baseball or football, or cheering for the teams. Often fathers were the coaches for the ball teams. At one point in time, Belvedere and the surrounding neighborhoods were considered the "hot spot" to live in town. Most families were white and middle class and frequently life was encompassed with participating in Midway team sports for the entire family. Midway Ball Park became a popular teenage hangout during the ball season during the 1970s and many fond memories took place in this park. Somewhere around the 1990s, the pool shut down, but later reopened in 2000 and has remained opened. The actual ball park has seen many improvements over the years.... new fencing, new new bleachers, new lights, etc.
