Belmullet (Béal an Mhuirthead in Irish) is a town with a population of around 1000 lying on the Mullet Peninsula in the barony of Erris, County Mayo, in the west of Ireland.

Although officially part of the Mayo Gaeltacht, it is an English-speaking town.However recently there have been numerous government aided schemes in the town to enhance the Irish language.The area plays host in summer months to large amounts of students enrolled in local Irish language summer schools.

Belmullet town is the gateway to the scenic Mullet Peninsula - an area of North Mayo rich in folklore, tradition, history and culture. Belmullet is a thriving town with many new developments and amenities, not least of which is the Carne golf links located against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also known for its fishing lakes, rivers and sea-angling off Broadhaven Bay, and is a popular and picturesque holiday destination, particularly in mid-August when it has its annual 'Fair Day' to welcome home its many emigrants and visitors from all parts of the globe. There are plenty of beaches nearby.The area is also developing a reputation among surfers for good surfing spots. To cater for the many golfers, anglers and general tourists is the newly opened four star Broadhaven Bay Hotel, which is at the entrance to Belmullet town, and overlooks Broadhaven Bay.
