Lester Green (born June 2, 1968 in Browns Mills, New Jersey), known as Beetlejuice, is primarily known for his appearances on the Howard Stern Show and is arguably the most popular member of The Wack Pack. His stage name derives from the 1988 Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice, in which a person in the afterlife had a shrunken head. Green suffers from microcephaly, an abnormally small head and brain. Microcephalics, also known by the offensive pejorative "pinheads", have been featured in movies as early as 1932 (See: Freaks). In his case, this condition is accompanied by mental retardation and small stature (4' 3"), though he does not have the disproportionate limb size associated with dwarfism. Green had a running bitter feud with Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf, but cried profusely upon learning of his death, calling him "my friend."
Green has appeared in films, including Scary Movie 2 and Bubble Boy, and provided guest vocals on the Smut Peddlers' album Porn Again. He has also performed the songs This is Beetle and I Don't Know, which were co-written by Stern Show staff member Richard Christy, who also provided the music and production. Staind and Blues Traveler have both covered the Beetlejuice songs. Staind plans to include their version * on their next album.
Since he's a favorite with Stern fans, Green has parlayed his fame by making personal appearances at various events. He also enjoys participating in dwarf tossing, in jurisdictions where the practice is still allowed.
On May 2, 2006, in a promotion for a Norelco shaver for male grooming, Green appeared on the Stern Show and had his scrotum shaved and then layed his scrotum on (or known by the slang term "tea-bagged") Australian porn star Jodie Moore. Later on, Green said that he was going to marry Ms. Moore and she could become Mrs. Jodie Moore Beetlejuice. Following that, Stern Show writer Sal the Stockbroker found a small pair of soiled underpants in the men's room and revealed Green had defecated in his pants before the tea-bagging segment. Sal brought the underpants into the studio, which Richard Christy wore on his head for $500. Christy reported that the smell from the drawers was "brutal" and threw up in a trash can.*
On his June 27, 2006 broadcast, Howard Stern received confirmation from segment producer Will Murray that Beetlejuice was recently arrested. Reports are that he walked into a South Jersey Wawa Food Markets convenience store to buy a sub sandwich then became agitated when they didn't let him have it for free. Murray reports he got into a fight with the police, but Green's manager Sean Rooney would not comment.
