Bayview Junction is a wye junction located on the Canadian National main line between Hamilton and Burlington, Ontario, Canada. It marks the meeting of CN's Oakville Sub (west of Bayview towards Toronto) & Dundas Sub (which climbs the Niagara Escarpment above the town of Dundas), as well as a crossing (via bridge) of Pacific|* Hamilton Sub (whichs leads east to Fort Erie and west up the escarpment to Guelph Junction and the CP main line). Bayview is also part of VIA Rail's Windsor - Quebec City corridor. As such it's a very busy place, as upwards of 45 trains a day can pass through.

For railfans there are a couple of spots that allow for easy viewing. Firstly (and most accessible) is the pedestrian bridge over the tracks at the Royal Botanical Gardens' Laking Gardens area (as you pass the former Thai restaurant-now-spa/gameroom place on the left you'll see a small parking lot on the right, just before the bridge. Turn in, park and you're there.). There is also an area that faces west, where fans can view CN, NS, VIA, and CP trains (on the west side of York Blvd., after passing the curve and traffic light at Plains Rd., look for the sign 'Bus Turnaround'. Park in the entrance in front of the chain - the lot isn't used anymore - walk straight ahead through the abandonned parking lot and trees and STOP! You're there.). This spot is called Hamilton West lookout, 'HamWest' for short. This area gets great morning photos and S-Curve shots of CP trains on the Hamilton Subdivision. There's also a spot halfway down the stairs on the Hamilton side of the York St. high level bridge where you can view GO Transit commuter trains (6:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.; 3:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) and CP yard locals crossing the Desjardins Canal, as well as the daily Amtrak train to New York City, NS's autorack trains, the SOR steel train, and some CN through trains.

By 2007 CN's line through Bayview will have a third track in place, to relieve congestion in and around the junction. It is also hoped that the third line will facilitate a VIA Rail stop in Hamilton.

NS trains are Norfolk Southern trains operated under historic running rights agreements stemming from the CaSo sub.

SOR trains are Southern Ontario Railway, a shortline that operates in Hamilton and out of Brantford and uses running rights to travel between the two locations.
