Barton-Le-Clay is a large village in the south of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom located at . A new estate has recently been built, adding to the size of Barton. The village has existed since before 1066 and is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Location
Barton-Le-Clay is on the outskirts of South Bedfordshire between Bedford and Luton. Nearby villages include Sharpenhoe, Silsoe, Westoning and Pulloxhill. It is 30 miles north of London. The A6 which runs from Luton (6 miles south of the village) bypasses Barton and continues through Bedford (north of the village) all the way to Carlisle. This bypass was constructed in January 1990.

Barton Hills
To the south-east of Barton there is a large hill at the bottom of which is a spring (Barton Springs) that is the start of a chalk stream river. During the summer Dartmoor ponies roam the hills. Barton Hills are part of the Chilterns and many people come from all around the area to see them. Special paths run throughout the hills and maps of the route are shown at the entrance to the hills. Gates are in place to ensure that the wildlife on the hills do not escape.

Children in Barton can go to either of these schools and when they finish Arnold Middle School they can go to Harlington Upper School of which Barton is in the catchment area. Arnold Middle School also serves the wider community of Westoning, Pulloxhill, Greenfield, Streatley, Silsoe and Flitton.

Football
Barton-Le-Clay has a football team called Barton Rovers F.C. they have a small, basic, ground with one decent stand and a bar.
They play their home matches at Sharpenhoe Road.

Barton-Le-Clay War Memorials
Of the two World War Memorials that stand in Barton, one stands on the junction of The High Street with Luton Road and Hexton Road. The other is in the Parish Church. Both Memorials have identical names on them. Also there is a Memorial Window in the Village Parish Church.

History
The Domesday Book
This is the Barton-Le-Clay Doomsday Book entry, it is taken from 210d 2.In FLITT Hundred M. The Abbot also holds BARTON(in-the-clay). It answers for 11 hides. Land for 12 ploughs. In lordship 3 hides; 2 ploughs there; a third possible. 20 villagers have 9 ploughs. 7 smallholders and 6 slaves. 1 mill, 2s, meadow for 6 ploughs; woodland, 200 pigs. In total, value £10; the same when acquired; before 1066 £12. This manor always lay in (the lands of) St Benedict’s Church. With this manor the Abbot claims against Nigel of Aubigny and Walter the Fleming 12 acres of meadow which lay there before 1066, but John of Les Roches dispossessed him wrongfully, and this the Hundred testifies.
