The twin villages of Ballineen (Béal Átha Fhínín in Irish) and Enniskean (Inis Céin in Irish) in County Cork are located 43 km southwest of Cork City, Ireland, on the R586 road. The name Ballineen means the mouth of Fineen's Ford and Enniskean takes its name from Cian Maol Muadh (later O'Mahony) a local chieftain.
With a population of 619 people in the 2002 census, Ballineen and Enniskean lie on the River Bandon between two hills. The main employers of the villages are Grainger's Sawmills in Enniskean and Carbery Cheese factory located approximately 2km west of Ballineen on the R586.
Joe Walsh was born in Ballineen in May 1943.
