Balkanabat (Балканабат), formerly Nebitdag, is a city in western Turkmenistan, and the capital of Balkan Province. It is located at , at an altitude of 17 meters, some 600 kilometers from Ashgabat. As of 1999, the city had a population of 108,000.

Balkanabat lies at the foot of the Bolshoi Balhan mountain range. It was founded in 1933, as a stop on the Trans-Caspian Railway. It is an industrial center for petroleum and natural gas production.
