Bahamians are people of the Bahamas. It's the plural of the word Bahamian.

Eighty five percent of Bahamians are of African Heritage, the rest are of European, Asian and Hispanic descent. Those of European descent are also referred to as Conch (people) or Conchy Joes.

Famous Bahamians:

  • Actor and diplomat; Sir Sidney Poitier.
  • Super Model; Shakara Ledard.
  • The Right Honourable Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling.
  • Professional basketball player; Ulrich Alexander (Rick) Fox.
  • Debbie Ferguson, Bahamian Olympian and sprint athlete.
  • "King" Eric Gibson is a Bahamian musician and entrepreneur. He is also the semi-official Ambassador of Bahamian Goodwill.
  • John "Chippie" Chipman, A local folk hero, widely known and credited for making goatskin and sheep skin drums. It is estimated that he alone would make some four (4,000) thousand drums a year alone.
