Ashley Highfield (born October 3rd 1965) joined the BBC in October 2000 as Director of New Media & Technology.
He is responsible for the BBC's output on the Internet; bbc.co.uk and interactive TV; BBCi.
Before joining the BBC, Highfield worked at Flextech TV, the pay-TV channel provider that later merged with Telewest.
Highfield is now one of nine members of the BBC's Executive Board following a shake up in senior management at the BBC shortly after Mark Thompson's arrival as the new Director General in 2004.
Later that year the BBC Governors published a much tighter remit for bbc.co.uk following an independently written Government review of the BBC's online activity.
