Arrondissements of the Eure département

In France, the chief town of an arrondissement is known as the sous-préfecture. When an arrondissement contains the préfecture (capital) of the département, that préfecture is the capital of the arrondissement, acting both as a préfecture and as a sous-préfecture. The Eure département of France has 3 arrondissements. These are:

  1. Arrondissement of Les Andelys, (sous-préfecture: Les Andelys) with 10 cantons and 156 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 125,594 in 1990, and was 135,740 in 1999, an increase of 8.08%.
  2. Arrondissement of Bernay, (sous-préfecture: Bernay) with 15 cantons and 239 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 126,659 in 1990, and was 131,050 in 1999, an increase of 3.47%.
  3. Arrondissement of Évreux, (préfecture of the Eure département: Évreux) with 18 cantons and 280 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 261,565 in 1990, and was 274,264 in 1999, an increase of 4.86%.
