Anthony Salz, a prominent solicitor, is the current Vice Chairman of the BBC. Salz assumed the position on August 1 2004 after the resignation of the former Vice Chairman, Lord Ryder.

Salz's career has given him experience in the broadcasting industry, having worked on the merger of Rupert Murdoch's Sky Television with the ailing British Satellite Broadcasting to form BSkyB.
