Allen Dorfman was the stepson of Paul "Red" Dorfman who had been close with Tony Accardo. Dorfman was promoted to the head of the Chicago waste disposal union in the 1940's following the murder of its previous chairman. He became friends with James Hoffa and introduced him to many Chicago crime figures. In the 1950's Hoffa set up Dorfman in the insurance business. Before that he was working as a college gym teacher. He later handled the Centeral States Health and Welfare policies, later moving on to control the pension fund. Allen became a middleman for Jimmy Hoffa and Moe Dalitz. Dorfman arranged for the $97 million in loans from the Centeral States Pension fund that created the La Costa Country Club and Spa. Allen later had a falling out after the casino skimming and bad publicity in giving Frank Rosenthal his job as casino manager. Dorfman was executed with a .22 outside the Lincolnwood Hyatt Hotel in Chicago.
Allen Dorfman was portrayed by comedian Alan King (character's name was Andy Stone) in the movie Casino.
