Rev. Alex L. Orbito (b. November 25, 1940) is a Filipino psychic surgeon of international fame.

Biography


Alex Orbito was born in the Philippines, near the town of Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija the 14th child in a farming household. Alex's mother is considered to be one of the founders of the Philippines' spiritualist movement. Alex's career as healer began when he was 14, after he reputedly cured a neighbor who had been paralytic for ten years.

Alex Obito became well-known in the U. S. through association with actress Shirley MacLaine, who wrote about him in her best-selling book, Going Within: A Guide for Inner Transformation.

Abilities


Among other claims, Orbito professes to be able to cure blindness by removing eyeballs, cleaning them, and replacing them in their sockets.

Enterprises


In 1999 Orbito built the Pyramid of Asia Spiritual Healing Center in Cabanbanan, Manaoag, and from 1999 through 2004 conducted International Healing Festivals there. The 1999 inauguration was attended by Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines. The center features an 200-meter-high pyramid, constructed entirely of wood and stone and containing no screws, nails, or any electrically conductive material at all. (As of 2005, it requires extensive repairs due to termite damage).

Orbito owns the Orbit Tours and Travel Agency, which offers "tours of the Philippines for the purpose of encountering spiritual healer Rev. Alex L. Orbito."

Arrest and indictment


On June 14, 2005, Orbito was arrested by Canadian authorities and indicted for fraud *.
