Alan Hinkes OBE (April 26, 1954- ) is a British mountaineer from Northallerton in North Yorkshire. He is the first and only British mountaineer to have summited all 14 mountains with elevations greater than 8000 metres, the so-called Eight-thousanders. He summited the last one, Kangchenjunga, on May 30, 2005.
He was awarded a Honorary Fellowship of the University of Sunderland in 1999.
