Agapanthaceae is the botanical name of a family of flowering plants. Such a family has not been recognized by many taxonomists.
The APG II system, of 2003, does not recognize such a family, not as such, but allows it to be segregated from the family Alliaceae, as an optional segregate. This is a slight change from the APG system, of 1998, which firmly did accept it as a separate family. In as far as APG II accepts this family it is placed in the order Asparagales, in the clade monocots. It consists of a single genus, Agapanthus.
