"Aeroplane" was a song from the Red Hot Chili Peppers album One Hot Minute. Aeroplane was the third single released from the One Hot Minute album and a music video was made. It was inspired by a gospel song called "Jesus Is My Aeroplane". It is a funk track and one of the more accessible ones on the album, as it is quite an upbeat song, despite the fact the lyrical themes could be interpreted as rather dark.

In Anthony Kiedis' biography, he says that this, along with several other songs on One Hot Minute including Warped, were written when Kiedis became addicted to drugs again following 5 1/2 years of being sober. He kept the drug use a secret, and said that he's surprised no one picked up on it with some of the lyrics he was writing. Some of those references include the lyrics "someone better slap me ... before I start to decompose". According to Scar Tissue, the lyrics "Sitting in my kitchen...I'm turning into dust again...my melancholy baby...the star of mazzy must...push her voice inside of me" refer to Anthony's kitchen, where he claimed to do most of his drugs.
The song featured Flea's daughter; Clara Balzary, and the rest of her kindergarten class singing at the song's outro. They were also featured in the music video.
