The term ablutions may refer to several things:

  • Ablution may refer to the practice of removing sins, diseases or earthly defilements through the use of ritual washing, or the practice of using ritual washing as one part of a ceremony to remove sin or disease.

  • Ablutions (Episcopal) in the most liturgical denominations, refers to a ritual cleansing of the chalice and paten used in the Eucharist after all have taken Communion.
