Plot summary

The Battle of the Blackwater Rush is over as fast as it begins, Stannis's army has fallen apart in fear and his fleet is destroyed by wildfire and dashed against the Imp's Chain, and the Lannisters have won. Qhorin Halfhand is slain at his own command in a duel to the death with Jon Snow, the King Beyond the Wall is preparing to attack, and Jon finds himself a turncoat and marching with the king. While with the wildings, Jon meets Ygritte, a wilding spearwife, and soon finds himself in a deep sexual relationship with her.
