It is a prime number, the fifth lucky prime, the first irregular prime, the third unique prime as well as the third cuban prime of the form p = (x^3 - y^3) / (x - y), x = y + 1. It is a factor of all 3-digit base 10 repdigits, such as 111. 37 is the smallest prime that is not also a supersingular prime. It is a centered hexagonal number and a star number.

Every positive integer is the sum of at most 37 fifth powers (see Waring's problem).

37 appears in the Padovan sequence, preceded by the terms 16, 21, 28 (it is the sum of the first two of these).

In the movie Clerks., Dante's girlfriend Veronica fellated 37 men in her lifetime, counting Dante. On Seinfeld, Jerry and Elaine had sex 37 times (by Elaine's count) prior to the first episode.

Although 47 occurs more frequently in Star Trek as a whole, the number 37 appears quite often on Voyager. To give just a couple of examples:

  • In the episode Juggernaut, Tuvok counts 37 escape pods from the Malon freighter.
  • In Imperfection, Tuvok reports he has "isolated a section containing the bodies of approximately 37 drones."
  • In Alice, Paris and Kim had planned to go to the holodeck to play Captain Proton, Chapter 37, "The Web of Pain."

In Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Dennis, the man who King Arthur mistakenly refers to as "Old Woman," is 37 years old.

The I.Q. to be envious of in the Devo song "37".

Number 37 is Paul Newman's prisoner number in the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke.
