- First Division - Liverpool win the 1905-06 title, the first club to win promotion to the First Division and the title in successive seasons.
- FA Cup - Everton beat Newcastle United 1-0.

- Ottawa Silver Seven win their 4th Stanley Cup, defeating Smiths Falls 2 games to 0. Later in the season, the Montreal Wanderers won their 1st championship, defeating the Silver Seven 2 games to 1.

- March 31 - The Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States (IAAUS) is established to set rules for amateur sports in the United States, including revisions to American football rules that legalize the forward pass. The IAAUS would later become the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 1910.
