Der Begriff Konsonantisch hat in der Sprachforschung zwei Bedeutungen:

• Artikulatorisch bezeichnet der Begriff den Hauptartikulationsmodus ( Konsonant).
• Phonologisch betrachtet handelt es sich um ein binäres Unterscheidungsmerkmal cons. im Gegensatz zu Vokalisch ^* (Siehe auch Contoid).
