Willie Dixon (* 1. Juli 1915 in Vicksburg, Mississippi; † 29. Januar 1992 in Burbank, Kalifornien) war ein bedeutender US-amerikanischer Bluesmusiker. (Gesang, Bass, Songwriter und Produzent)

Dixon hat die Entwicklung des Chicago-Blues und vor allem den Blues an sich in den 50er und 60er Jahren entscheidend geprägt. Er war als Songwriter und Produzent für das Chicagoer Blues-Label Chess and Checker Records tätig und ist auf zahlreichen Plattenaufnahmen zu hören. Er schrieb viele der bedeutendsten Blues-Songs, wie "Hoochie Coochie Man", "Evil" oder "Back Door Man", die vor allem in den Interpretation von Muddy Waters und Howlin' Wolf bekannt wurden. Aber auch viele andere Blueslegenden griffen seine Songs auf. Einem breiten Publikum wurden seine Kompositionen bekannt, als in den 60er Jahren britische Rockbands etliche Titel von Willie Dixon aufnahmen, z. B. die Rolling Stones: "Little Red Rooster", Cream: "Spoonful" und Led Zeppelin: "Can't quit you, baby". Auch Elvis Presley, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors und viele spätere Bands wie die Black Crowes intepretierten seine Songs. Die Liste der Bands, die Dixon´s Songs Coverten ist lang und bedeutend. Willie Dixon ist der Blues ("I Am The Blues") und gleichzeitig einer der wichtigsten Ecksteine der Rockgeschichte.

1989 veröffentlichte Dixon eine Autobiographie unter dem Titel "I am the Blues". Ein eindrückliches Highlight seiner musikalischen Performance kam 1991 heraus: "Hidden charms" (mit den Song-Titeln: "Blues you can't loose", "I don't trust myself", "Jungle swing", "Don't mess with the messer", "Study war no more", "I love the life I live", "I cry for you", "Good advice", "I do the job"). 1992 starb Dixon an Herzversagen.
