Überblick
Die Universität Sydney wurde 1850 gegründet und ist damit die älteste Universität Australiens. Sie gehört zur Group of Eight, den Universitäten mit dem besten Ruf in Australien (vergleichbar mit der US-amerikanischen Ivy League).
Der Hauptcampus befindet sich in Camperdown, einem Vorort von Sydney. Die Sandsteingebäude im gotischen Stil, wurden von Edmund Blacket entworfen und 1862 erstellt. Die schnelle Entwicklung seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts, resultierte im Erwerb weiterer Campusse und der Übernahme von vorher unabhängigen Schulen.
