Als Kommunikationsmodell bzw. Kommunikationstheorie bezeichnet man wissenschaftliche Erklärungsversuche zur Beschreibung von Kommunikation. Diese theoretischen Ansätze sollen erklären, was Kommunikation ist und wie sie funktioniert. Weder die Kommunikations- noch die Medienwissenschaft haben jedoch bisher eine einheitliche Theorie entwickelt.
