Die FIBA ist der Weltbasketballverband (siehe Basketball), am 18. Juni 1932 in Genf gegründet, wo sie bis heute ansässig ist. Die Abkürzung steht ursprünglich für Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur, 1986 wurde auf dem 13. Weltkongress das Wort Amateur gestrichen, FIBA steht nun für Fédération Internationale de Basketball.
