Karplanter (Tracheobionta) er en stor gruppe af planter. Denne gruppe bliver ikke brugt ofte taksonomisk, da den er i konflikt med det nuværende system.

• Ulvefod-planter (Lycopsida)
• Padderokplanter (Sphenopsida)
• Bregner (Pteropsida eller Filicopsida)
• Frøplanter (Magnoliophyta, Spermatophyta eller Spermatopsida)

Ifølge en nyere klassificering baseret på Tree of Life: Land Plants er Ginkgo-familien placeret under frøplanter.
