Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (Stuttgart, 27 d'agost de 1770 - Berlín, 14 de novembre de 1831), filòsof alemany de l'idealisme absolut.

Va rebre la seva formació en el Tübinger Stift (seminari de l'Església protestant a Württemberg), on va fer amistat amb el futur filòsof Friedrich Schelling.

Li van fascinar les obres d'Spinoza, Kant i Rousseau, així com la Revolució Francesa. Consideren molts que Hegel representa el cim del moviment vuitcentista alemany de l'idealisme filosòfic, que hauria de tenir un impacte profund en el materialisme històric de Karl Marx.

• Enciclopèdia de les ciències filosòfiques (Enzyklopaedie der philosophischen Wissenschaften) 1817-1830.
• Elements de la filosofia del dret (Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts) 1819.
